Tokyo, April 7: Google has launched a new Japan-exclusive version of the Pixel 10a, named the Isai Blue edition. This release commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Pixel lineup and features a design collaboration with Heralbony, a company celebrated for its diverse artistic expression. Pre-orders for the device are now open in Japan, with sales set to begin on May 20.
Unlike the standard Pixel 10a colors such as Lavender, Berry, Fog, and Obsidian, this variant emphasizes a concept over nature-inspired hues. The term “Isai” translates to individuality, and the blue finish embodies Heralbony’s corporate identity, promoting the celebration of uniqueness. The design encompasses not just the exterior but also integrates hardware, accessories, and software elements.
On the software front, the device employs Google’s Material You system, allowing artwork to be seamlessly integrated into the user interface. The Isai Blue edition features three themed design sets crafted by Heralbony artists Shigaku Mizukami, Midori Kudo, and Kaoru Iga. Users can choose from nine wallpapers, with the system automatically adjusting app icons and color schemes to align with the selected design.
Customization extends to physical accessories as well. The package includes original stickers designed by Nozomi Fujita, showcasing letters and motifs inspired by the Pixel brand. Additionally, a color-matched bumper case is provided, protecting the sides while allowing the back to remain visible, showcasing the blue finish and applied stickers.
In terms of build quality, the Pixel 10a boasts enhanced front glass durability compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 9a. It also features a completely flat rear camera layout, eliminating protrusions to minimize the risk of scratches and damage from accidental drops.
The packaging itself reflects this collaboration, with the box sleeve adorned with artwork by Midori Kudo, offering a visual glimpse into the partnership.
The Pixel 10a Isai Blue edition is priced at 94,900 yen (approximately US$594) and is available in a single 256GB configuration.
