Gold Prices Surge Past ₹1.49 Lakh as Market Sees Steady Growth

Mumbai, August 6: Gold prices continue to rise, with futures trading surpassing ₹1.49 lakh per 10 grams at the start of Thursday’s session.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the contract for gold set to expire on October 5, 2026, opened at ₹1,49,029 per 10 grams, compared to the previous closing of ₹1,48,493.

By 10:13 AM, gold had increased by ₹850, or 0.57%, reaching ₹1,49,343 per 10 grams. During trading, gold recorded a low of ₹1,48,900 and a high of ₹1,49,525 per 10 grams.

Silver prices also saw an upward trend. The contract for silver due on September 4, 2026, opened at ₹2,27,500 per kilogram, down from the previous closing of ₹2,27,584. Currently, it has risen by ₹336, or 0.15%, to ₹2,27,920 per kilogram. Silver’s trading range has been between ₹2,27,008 and ₹2,28,397 per kilogram.

International markets are also witnessing a rise in gold and silver prices. On COMEX, gold is up by 0.36% at $4,320 per ounce, while silver has increased by 0.12% to $62.36 per ounce.

Experts attribute the rise in gold and silver prices to the cessation of hostilities between the U.S. and Iran, which has led to a decrease in crude oil prices and reduced inflationary pressures.

Additionally, the decline of the dollar index below 100 is providing support for precious metal prices. The dollar index reflects the value of the U.S. dollar against six major currencies: the euro, Japanese yen, British pound, Canadian dollar, Swedish krona, and Swiss franc.
