Islamabad, May 18: A drone attack targeted the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in the United Arab Emirates, prompting strong condemnation from various nations, including Pakistan and Germany. Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed his support for the UAE and called for a resolution through dialogue.
In a statement, PM Sharif condemned the attack on the nuclear facility and urged all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to international law. He emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only viable paths to long-term peace and stability in the region.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also voiced concerns regarding public safety and advised Iran to engage in serious discussions with the United States. He condemned the recent airstrike threats against the UAE and its partners, stating that attacks on nuclear facilities pose a significant risk to regional security.
Chancellor Merz remarked on social media, “Iran must engage in serious talks with the U.S., cease threatening its neighbors, and ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open.”
Additionally, Qatar and Kuwait expressed their solidarity with the UAE, condemning the attack. Saudi Arabia reported intercepting three suspicious drones with its air defense system.
