New Delhi, March 28: After finishing the 2025 season with an impressive 11-2 record, Texas A&M made its first appearance in the College Football Playoff. Thirteen starters from that roster were invited to the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, including cornerback Will Lee III. He was one of the first transfer additions made by coach Mike Elko after his hiring in late 2024.
Lee stands out as one of the taller cornerbacks in the SEC, officially measuring 6’1 1/2″ and weighing 189 pounds, with 32 3/4″ arms at the combine. His 2025 season was statistically his best, recording a career-high 50 tackles, his first sack, and eight pass deflections, following ten deflections the previous season. According to Pro Football Focus, Lee achieved a solid 68.5 coverage grade, allowing 32 receptions for 520 yards and four touchdowns.
Inconsistency is a common issue for cornerbacks nationwide, regardless of their combine performance. While Lee is projected as a fifth or sixth-round selection, one NFL scout believes he could be a late-round steal in the 2026 draft, similar to former Texas A&M cornerback Jaylon Jones, who has excelled with the Indianapolis Colts.
“Lee was a consistent performer throughout college and jumps off the tape in press coverage. That talent was evident at the Senior Bowl as well,” the scout noted.
In the NFL, specific schemes demand elite length on the boundary, particularly in Cover 3 formations. This makes Will Lee an attractive late-round option for numerous NFL teams seeking immediate depth in their secondary while also looking to develop a potential star.
The 2026 NFL Draft is set to begin on Thursday, April 23, 2026, and will continue through Saturday, April 25.
