For decades, country’s dev affected due to ‘sluggish’ attitude: PM

Pune, March 6 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asserted that for decades there was such a ‘system’ in the country because of which completion of important projects took long time. “Speed and scale are the most important aspects for development of infrastructure in any country.For decades, we had such a system due to which completion of major projects took long time. This sluggish attitude affected development of the country,” Modi, said after laying the foundation stone and inaugurating multiple developmental projects here, in an apparent reference to the previous Congress government at the Centre. Referring to the Pune Metro Rail project, Modi said it’s inauguration is a message that any project can be completed on time. “I had laid the foundation stone of Pune Metro Rail project and inaugurated it today. It is also a message that project can be completed on time,” he said. In a veiled attack on the earlier Congress government, the PM said, “Earlier, the foundation stone was laid but when it will be inaugurated there was no time frame.” “Our government is giving special attention to mass transportation and metro connectivity. Every section of the society should inculcate the habit of travelling in metro. Our effort is that there should be more green transport, electric buses, electric cars and two wheelers,” he said. Taking about the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj which he unveiled at the premises of Pune M cipal Corporation, earlier in the day, the PM said, “It will install the feeling of patriotism amongst youths.” Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis , Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, on Minister Ramdas Athawale and others were present on the occasion.
