Jaipur, August 12 (Kiran News). The first attempt to induce artificial rain using a drone in Jaipur’s Ramgarh Dam area on Tuesday did not succeed, as the clouds were positioned too high for effective Cloud Seeding. The drone could only be flown up to 400 feet due to regulatory restrictions.

Ajinkya Dhoombare, Director of the company Gen X AI, which is executing the project, said, “Today we conducted a demonstration by flying the drone up to 400 feet. Within 7 to 10 days, we expect permission to fly at greater altitudes, which will allow us to target higher clouds for cloud seeding.”
GPS Signal Disruption Due to Crowd
Before the attempt, a large crowd gathered, disrupting the drone’s GPS signal. As a result, it initially failed to even reach 400 feet. Despite full preparations by the Rajasthan government in collaboration with the private company, the demonstration faced multiple challenges. Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena was also present at the site in the afternoon.
In the first trial, the drone’s propellers started but it remained on the ground. In the second attempt, it managed to ascend slightly before getting stuck among bushes near the base of the dam. Onlookers rushed to record videos, leading to a brief altercation with police, which was later resolved.
Minister’s Assurance
Agriculture Minister Dr. Meena posted on social media platform X that the demo drone was successfully flown up to 400 feet and assured that within the next 30 days, artificial rainfall would be carried out at Ramgarh Dam using this technology.
