Fire and Gas Cylinder Explosion Injures Firefighter in Jahangirpuri, Delhi

A firefighter was injured after a gas cylinder exploded during a fire at a home in Jahangirpuri, Delhi, causing panic in the area.

Jahangirpuri, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : A severe fire broke out in a house in the E-Block of Jahangirpuri, Delhi, on October 30. The blaze was exacerbated by the explosion of a gas cylinder, which sent shockwaves through the neighborhood. Officials reported that a firefighter sustained burns due to the cylinder blast.

Upon receiving the emergency call, three fire engines rushed to the scene. Firefighters immediately began efforts to control the flames. The explosion caused widespread panic, prompting residents to flee to safer areas. The fire department is actively working to extinguish the fire while an investigation into the incident is underway.

Earlier this week, a fire also erupted at the historic North Block administrative building located on Raisina Hill in the national capital. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky, leading the Delhi Fire Service to respond swiftly. Officials confirmed that the fire was extinguished without any reported injuries.

Witnesses observed heavy smoke rising from the back of the building in the morning, raising concerns about a potential fire inside. Reports indicated that welding work was being conducted at the site when sparks ignited a nearby tank, causing the fire. Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities occurred during this incident.

Delhi Fire Service officials noted that they received alerts about smoke emanating from an unknown location inside North Block. Following the alarm, six fire engines were dispatched to assess the situation and extinguish the flames. Authorities mentioned that some internal demolition work was ongoing at the time.

In September, a devastating fire at the ‘Flourish Stay’ hotel in the densely populated Hauz Rani area of Malviya Nagar trapped guests inside several floors of the building. That incident claimed the lives of 21 individuals, including nine Indians and several foreign nationals from Bangladesh, Liberia, Nigeria, and Mozambique.
