FIR Filed Against Fake Posts Targeting Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi

Ahmedabad, August 23: The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has registered a case against an individual for allegedly posting misleading and false information on the social media platform ‘X’ with the intent to damage the reputation of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi.

According to the Crime Branch, the individual is accused of spreading false information as part of a purported criminal conspiracy aimed at harming the image of CM Patel and Deputy CM Sanghvi, while also creating confusion among the public.

The investigation revealed that a post was shared from an account named Pawan Tyagi, claiming that Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi would be appointed as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, while CM Bhupendra Patel would be designated as the Governor.

The post stated, “Breaking news: Gujarat’s Deputy CM Harsh Sanghvi will be made the CM. CM Bhupendra Patel will be appointed as the Governor.”

Police officials have confirmed that this information was found to be entirely misleading, false, and fabricated. Following this discovery, an investigation was initiated.

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has filed charges under sections 336(4), 353(1), and 61(2) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as section 66(D) of the Information Technology (IT) Act. The police are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the fake post and whether there is any organized conspiracy involved.

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch has urged citizens not to believe unverified and misleading news circulating on social media. The police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against those who spread rumors, create confusion, or post fake information that undermines the dignity of public representatives and constitutional positions.
