Tehran, April 7: Attacks on Iran continue to escalate. On Tuesday, local media reported that the United States and Israel targeted the oil terminal on Iran’s Kharg Island. Additionally, an attack on the Yahya Abad railway bridge near Kashan resulted in the deaths of two individuals.
Semi-official news agencies Mehr and IRNA provided this information. They noted that not only was a bridge on the Tabriz-Zanjan highway attacked in northwestern Iran, but the Yahya Abad railway bridge and Kharg Island were also under fire.
According to Mehr, the Deputy Governor of Isfahan confirmed that two people lost their lives in the attack. This incident occurred following a warning from the Israeli military, advising Iranians not to use trains for their “safety” until 9 PM local time.
Multiple explosions were reported in Kharg as well. Approximately 80-90% of Iran’s crude oil exports pass through Kharg Island, which hosts significant oil terminals, pipelines, storage facilities, and ship-loading capabilities. Around 7 million barrels of oil can be loaded onto ships daily.
These attacks coincide with U.S. President Donald Trump’s deadline for opening the Strait of Hormuz, set for Tuesday night at 8 PM (5:30 AM IST).
Amid the ongoing assaults, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) issued a stern warning to the United States. They stated that their response would not be limited to the Middle East but could also target energy infrastructure in the region.
The Guards emphasized that they had exercised restraint until now, but that patience had run out. They warned that Iran could strike at U.S. and allied structures, potentially cutting them off from the region’s oil and gas resources. The IRGC cautioned that if U.S. forces crossed a line, the consequences would be severe.
