Ranchi, March 3: In anticipation of Holi and Ramadan, strict security arrangements have been implemented in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. On Tuesday, the district administration and police conducted a flag march in sensitive areas of the city to promote peace and maintain law and order.
Officials have made it clear that any disturbances or rumors during the festivals will be met with strict action. The flag march, led by City SP Paras Rana and Sub-Divisional Officer Kumar Rajat, included trainee IPS officer Sakshi Jamuar, Deputy Superintendents K.V. Raman and Prakash Soy, local station officers, and armed forces personnel. The march began at Albert Ekka Chowk and proceeded through Main Road, Karbala Chowk, and Church Road, where officials also assessed market areas and sensitive locations.
Sub-Divisional Officer Kumar Rajat emphasized that no disorder will be tolerated in the name of Holi. He urged all communities to celebrate the festival in harmony, which is the administration’s top priority. It was reported that an additional 3,000 police and security personnel have been deployed in Ranchi district for the occasion, including members of the Rapid Action Force.
Quick Response Teams (QRT) in all police station areas are on alert to ensure swift action in case of any incidents. Special arrangements, including fire engines and ambulances, have been set up at the control room located in the courthouse to handle emergencies. A dedicated monitoring cell has been established to oversee social media, identifying misleading or inflammatory posts for prompt action.
Following directives from the police headquarters, additional forces have been stationed in sensitive areas, religious sites, and crowded markets. Comprehensive security measures have also been implemented at the state level. Approximately 5,000 personnel from the Jharkhand Armed Police, Indian Reserve Battalion, and Home Defense Corps are assigned to law and order duties. Special vigilance is being exercised against forced color application, inappropriate music, and potential disputes in certain areas. Surveillance using drone cameras has also been arranged at various locations.
