District Magistrate Inaugurates Nine Pink Kiosks to Boost Local Economy

Mumbai, April 25: A significant initiative has been launched to enhance the shopping experience for pilgrims visiting the Char Dham Yatra. District Magistrate Prashant Arya inaugurated nine portable pink kiosks in the Heena parking area, aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and boosting the local economy.

During the Char Dham Yatra, millions of devotees pass through Uttarkashi. Now, travelers can conveniently find local flavors, handicrafts, and hill products at rest stops. This initiative is expected to benefit both travelers and local women.

At the inauguration, District Magistrate Prashant Arya engaged directly with pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh, gathering feedback on travel arrangements, facilities, and product quality. Travelers praised the initiative, noting that the availability of pure and local products makes their journey more comfortable.

These pink kiosks will be operated by women associated with self-help groups, increasing their income and promoting economic independence. The administration believes this initiative will connect women to self-employment opportunities and provide direct market access. With a platform for selling local products, women from the hills will no longer have to rely on larger markets for their goods.

The pink kiosks along the Char Dham Yatra route will offer travelers a taste of Uttarakhand’s traditional flavors. Products available will include hill salt, local pickles, buransh juice, lemonade, jams made from hill fruits, and handicrafts. Through these offerings, travelers will not only enjoy local delicacies but also experience the culture and traditions of the mountains.

District Magistrate Prashant Arya stated that the portable kiosks at Heena parking will provide travelers with a convenient shopping opportunity during their breaks. He emphasized that this initiative will strengthen the ‘Vocal for Local’ campaign while empowering women economically. Arya expressed confidence that this effort will serve as a milestone in enhancing women’s economic strength and energizing the rural economy.

The event was attended by several officials, including CDO Jaybharat Singh, Rameshchandra Arya, Kapil Upadhyay, along with social workers and local citizens.
