Former BJP Councillor Joins SP, Claims Party Has Been Hijacked

Former BJP councillor Vishwajit Tripathi joins SP, accusing BJP of corruption and expressing confidence in Akhilesh Yadavs return to power in 2027.

Gorakhpur, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Vishwajit Tripathi has officially joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Gorakhpur. He criticized the BJP for corruption, organizational issues, and mistreatment of Brahmins and teachers. Tripathi expressed optimism that Akhilesh Yadav will regain power in Uttar Pradesh in 2027.

During his announcement, Tripathi stated, “Leaders from Delhi have no influence in Gorakhpur. Currently, the entire BJP has aligned itself with the Hindu Yuva Vahini. The party has been hijacked. This is no longer the BJP of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s era. The current state of the BJP is evident to everyone.”

He recalled the legacy of former national general secretary Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal, who faced continuous humiliation from the party. “I was just a small councillor. What could Vinod Tawde (BJP’s UP in-charge and national general secretary) do for me? If he had any influence in Gorakhpur, I would have met him. He may have some sway in Delhi, but nothing works here because the BJP is hijacked in Gorakhpur.”

Tripathi praised Akhilesh Yadav as a leader for all communities. He noted that the work Yadav has done in Uttar Pradesh is unparalleled. He highlighted the plight of Brahmins, stating, “We are witnessing a situation where Brahmins are being oppressed. Many are gravitating towards the Samajwadi Party, which is poised to form the government.”

He further criticized the current administration’s failure to address infrastructure issues, saying, “Despite nine years in power, streets and neighborhoods still flood during rains.” Tripathi pointed to rampant corruption and a lack of respect for teachers, questioning the absence of BJP MPs during the ongoing challenges faced by educators.

He concluded by mentioning that the teachers’ organization, which was formed independently of the government, has now been undermined, and that many educators have rejected figures like Dhruv Kumar Tripathi, who have failed to advocate for their interests. He indicated that Sanjay Kumar Tripathi would also be joining the Samajwadi Party.
