Gujarat Launches Premium Bus Service at Statue of Unity

Narmada, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Tourists visiting the Statue of Unity can now enjoy the stunning surroundings from the comfort of air-conditioned buses featuring transparent dome roofs. This new premium “Vista Dome” coach service has been launched by Gujarat Tourism in collaboration with the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC).

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first bus service at the Statue of Unity, taking a ride in one of the newly designed vehicles. Each bus accommodates 23 passengers and is equipped with transparent roofs, allowing travelers to soak in the open sky and scenic views during their journey.

The buses come with fully adjustable reclining seats and a separate seat for the driver. They also feature premium amenities such as LED smart televisions, CCTV cameras, coffee and tea makers, mini refrigerators, and mobile charging facilities. Safety features include advanced fire detection and suppression systems, shatterproof glass, and emergency hammers.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi announced that similar services will be gradually introduced at other tourist destinations and heritage routes across Gujarat. The buses showcase images of the state’s major attractions, including the Statue of Unity, Akshardham, Somnath and Dwarka temples, Gir National Park, Adalaj Stepwell, the White Rann of Kutch, Taranga Fair, and the Vijaya Vilas Palace.

Each bus costs approximately ₹2.19 crore. So far, two out of the planned five coaches have been inaugurated, with the remaining three expected to launch within the next two months. Passengers can book tickets through the GSRTC website. This initiative is part of the state’s efforts to enhance tourism transportation facilities and provide visitors with a unique way to experience natural landscapes and heritage sites.

The introduction of Vista Dome coaches marks the first phase of this initiative, with plans to expand to other tourist spots and heritage routes in Gujarat.
