Meerut, August 8: This year’s Kanwar Yatra is showcasing a vibrant blend of devotion and patriotism. A grand Kanwar themed around the Agni-5 missile is currently captivating attention as it makes its way from Haridwar to Palam in Delhi.
The illuminated Kanwar has attracted large crowds along the route. Many are capturing its images on their mobile phones, while others are sharing videos on social media. This Kanwar, adorned with models of the Agni-5 missile, nuclear symbols, and military equipment, is being carried by a group of 25 to 30 devotees from the Palam area of Delhi.
The youth participating in the Yatra have dedicated this presentation to the valor of the Indian Army and the soldiers safeguarding the nation. Rajveer, a member of the Kanwar group, shared that this year’s theme was chosen to honor the strength of the armed forces.
He explained that the aim is to express respect and gratitude towards the soldiers deployed for national security. Last year, their group had a Kanwar themed around the BrahMos missile. This time, the focus is on the Agni-5. The Kanwar’s appeal lies not only in its military model but also in its stunning decorations. Adorned with colorful LED lights, it captures attention from afar, creating a mesmerizing sight along the Kanwar route.
Devotees chant “Har Har Mahadev” while swaying to patriotic songs. Onlookers stop to admire this unique Kanwar, taking pictures and videos.
Deepanshu, another member of the group, noted that the Kanwar features replicas of 51 shells and various other military symbols. He emphasized that the nation is showcasing its capabilities across all sectors, and this theme was chosen to familiarize youth with the pride of the armed forces and the contributions of soldiers.
He mentioned that their group consists of about 25 to 30 devotees, all journeying from Haridwar to Palam. Along the Kanwar route, presentations related to religious and social messages, as well as national sentiments, are drawing attention. The Agni-5 themed Kanwar prominently displays a message of patriotism alongside military symbols. Local residents and devotees gather at various points to witness it.
The Kanwar participants express that their effort is to combine devotion to Shiva with love for the nation. This is why the Kanwar has become a topic of discussion among the people during the journey.
In this same Kanwar Yatra, Abhishek from Delhi’s Tigris area is carrying a Kanwar themed around Mother India. His Kanwar features a statue of Mother India, a map of India, and flags on both sides.
Abhishek stated that for him, the nation is paramount, and he created the Kanwar with this sentiment. His DJ Kanwar plays patriotic songs like “This Land Belongs to Brave Soldiers,” “The Soil of My Country Yields Gold,” and “O Homeland.” The chants of “Har Har Mahadev” blend with the patriotic melodies, adding a unique flavor to this year’s Yatra. The fusion of faith and nationalism has made this Kanwar Yatra particularly special with its uniquely themed offerings.
