Devastating Fire Breaks Out at Grocery Warehouse in Pune

Pune, March 16: A severe fire incident occurred early Monday morning in Pune, Maharashtra. The blaze erupted at around 5:00 AM in a closed grocery warehouse located in Mamurdi. The flames and smoke caused panic among local residents.

Firefighters arrived promptly after receiving alerts from the community and worked diligently to control the fire. Unfortunately, by the time they managed to extinguish the flames, goods worth millions of rupees had been completely destroyed. Fire brigade officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

One firefighter on the scene shared, “We received a call from the main police station around 5 AM reporting a fire at a grocery store. A fire truck was dispatched immediately. Upon arrival, we found the entire store engulfed in flames. The store had six shutters, all closed and completely red from the fire, which made initial firefighting efforts challenging. We opened each shutter one by one to extinguish the flames inside. There were 50 to 60 oil cans boiling inside, which could have caused further complications if they exploded. We took great care to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. The cause of the fire is still unclear, and an investigation is underway.”

It is noteworthy that a fire also broke out in Pune’s historic Shaniwar Wada area on March 12. Flames ignited in a pile of garbage and dry wood near the main gate of Shaniwar Wada, rapidly spreading and causing smoke to be visible in the surrounding area. Local residents were alarmed by the sight of the flames and smoke. Two fire department vehicles arrived promptly and, after considerable effort, managed to bring the fire under control.
