Besides Khalid, police has registered case against Activist Khalid Saifi, JNU students Natasha Narwal and Devangana Kalita, Jamia Coordination Committee member Safoora Zargar, former AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain and several others under UAPA. The Counsel on behalf Khalid had moved the bail application by submitting that the accused has been falsely implicated in this case and the prosecution has failed to prove the case against him. Additional Sessions Judge Amitabh Rawat, after hearing arguments on behalf of the Prosecution and Defence Counsel, dismissed the bail application of accused Khalid. “On the perusal of the charge sheet and accompanying documents, for the limited purpose of the bail, I am of the opinion that allegations against accused Umar Khalid are prima facie true,” observed the court.
