New Delhi, August 24: Delhi Police have apprehended four suspects involved in two separate theft incidents. Stolen goods have also been recovered from the accused.
In South West Delhi, police arrested two alleged thieves and a person who purchased stolen items. The suspects have been identified as Mohammad Arif, Afsar, and Inzamam Sheikh, also known as Raja Sheikh.
According to police, their arrests have aided in solving four cases of burglary and theft reported in various areas of Delhi.
On Monday, police reported that during the investigation of two theft cases registered in the Palam Village area, they examined footage from approximately 700 CCTV cameras around the crime scenes. The footage revealed a group of suspects arriving on a motorcycle to execute the thefts.
Two suspects were identified as Mohammad Arif and Irshad, also known as Bhanu. Following this, Mohammad Arif was arrested on August 5 from Maujpur in Delhi. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to committing two thefts in the Palam area using a stolen motorcycle. He also revealed that he and Irshad had stolen the motorcycle from the Keshav Puram area.
Upon Arif’s identification, a country-made pistol and burglary tools were recovered. Subsequently, co-accused Afsar was arrested in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where another country-made pistol was allegedly found in his possession. During the investigation, police also tracked down Inzamam Sheikh, who was reportedly buying stolen gold jewelry. Police recovered 42.11 grams of melted gold from him.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police arrested a suspect involved in a shop theft in the Karol Bagh area. The suspect was found with 24 iPhones. On Monday, police reported that a theft was reported at a shop in Karol Bagh on August 20. The complainant stated that an unknown individual had broken the lock of the room on August 19, stealing around 50 boxes of Apple iPhones and ₹200,000 in cash. Following this, the Karol Bagh police registered an FIR and initiated an investigation.
During the investigation, police spotted a suspicious individual carrying a bag on CCTV. This information was promptly relayed to the ACP of Karol Bagh, who instructed the police team to track the suspect using the footage. Subsequently, another team was formed under the supervision of the SHO of Karol Bagh. After persistent efforts and systematic tracking via CCTV, the suspect was identified and arrested.
During continuous questioning, the suspect disclosed his involvement in the shop theft and admitted to committing two more thefts in the Prasad Nagar area and one in Karol Bagh in May 2026. Currently, further investigations are underway to uncover the roles of other co-accused and recover the remaining stolen goods.
