Delhi Minister Accused of Assault During Inspection by AAP Associate

An AAP associate alleges Minister Pravesh Verma slapped him during a street inspection in Tilak Nagar, demanding police action.

New Delhi, September 27 (Daily Kiran) : Sahib Singh, an associate of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Jarnail Singh, has accused Delhi Minister Pravesh Verma of slapping him during a street inspection in Tilak Nagar. Singh claims that during the inspection, Verma snatched his mobile phone and struck him. He has since called for police action regarding the incident.

In a conversation about the event, Singh explained that he manages Jarnail Singh’s social media accounts and was live-streaming the poor condition of the road for viewers when Verma arrived for his inspection. According to Singh, he aimed to demonstrate the road’s state to the public present.

Singh alleges that Pravesh Verma attempted to stop the live stream by taking his phone, after which he hit Singh. He also reported that Verma’s security personnel pushed him and engaged in physical altercation.

Following the incident, Singh filed a complaint with the police, stating that some individuals accompanying the minister threatened him. He provided their names in his complaint, asserting that appropriate action should be taken against Verma, given his position as a government minister.

Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to social media to demand Verma’s arrest, stating he plans to visit the site on Monday. AAP MLA Jarnail Singh criticized the BJP minister for losing control during the inspection, accusing him of resorting to violence against Singh, who was documenting the situation.

Tensions rise as the police now have the responsibility to investigate the matter further.
