Delhi HC:No to plea against demolition drive by NDMC in Jahangirpuri after status quo order by SC

New Delhi, April 20 : Delhi High Court after hearing refused to hear the pleas filed against the demolition drive by M cipality bodies in Jahangirpuri area of Delhi. During the Hanuman Jayanti procession on April 16 nine people including eight police personnel were injured in Jahangirpuri area. It is submitted through the pleas that New Delhi M cipality Committee (NDMC) had scheduled an anti-encroachment drive on Wednesday and Thursday in Jahangirpuri area of Delhi where clashes broke out during the Hanuman Jayanti procession. North Delhi M cipal Corporation (NDMC) will identify the illegal constructions in Jahangirpuri and demolish it and urged Delhi Police to provide police personnel including lady police for maintaining law and order during the encroachment removal action. Delhi Police after registeration of FIR arrested accused Mohammad Ansar, allegedly the key conspirator and an accused Sonu, who was seen on video firing a pistol during the clashes by levelling the charges under the provision of National Security Act. Meanwhile Delhi District Court after hearing the plea on behalf of Prosecution extended the police remand of Ansar, Salim, Dilshad and Gullu by three days. Delhi High Court Acting Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi was informed that the Supreme Court of India has passed an order of status quo in the demolition drive of Jahangirpuri area Delhi. Acting Chief Justice said, “I am not saying anything on the demolition but authority should be ready with the instructions. XC SY 1706
