Delhi CM Issues Strict Guidelines for Schools Amid Severe Heat Wave

New Delhi, April 25: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has mandated all schools to submit their compliance reports to the Directorate of Education by May 2, following the heat wave action plan issued by the IMD. She has also urged parents to ensure adherence to these directives.

In a video statement, CM Rekha Gupta emphasized the importance of safeguarding children during the extreme heat. She announced that every school must ring a water bell every 45 to 60 minutes to remind students to hydrate. Additionally, arrangements for clean and cold drinking water will be made in all schools.

The Chief Minister revealed that a nodal officer will be appointed for each school to ensure compliance with the guidelines. Schools have been instructed not to keep children outdoors or conduct any sports activities during this period.

Rekha Gupta has requested parents to dress their children in light cotton clothing for school. She encouraged parents to engage with their children about the adherence to the guidelines at school. If any non-compliance is observed, parents are advised to report it to the school and the district magistrate immediately.

She also urged parents to stay connected through the school’s WhatsApp group, where weather-related information will be shared. Many states have either closed schools or issued directives for compliance during this intense heat wave.
