New Delhi, June 20: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has recommended the transfer of 74 government doctors to Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu. This includes 39 doctors who have been stationed in Tihar and Mandoli jails for over five years. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare services in the region.
According to the Chief Minister, this recommendation is part of efforts to strengthen the administrative framework of healthcare services and improve human resource management.
The proposal suggests transferring 39 doctors who have served in Tihar and Mandoli jails for five years or more. An official statement indicated that the list includes both specialist doctors and General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs).
The statement noted that many of these doctors have been stationed at the same location since 2014, with some serving for over 11 years. The proposal also includes the deployment of approximately 35 other doctors in their place. In total, around 74 transfers have been proposed.
The Chief Minister believes that regular reviews of human resource management and postings can enhance the efficiency of healthcare services.
She stated that the Delhi government is continuously working to make various units of the health department more capable, accountable, and focused on public welfare. The goal is to ensure better utilization of available human resources and strengthen institutional capacity to provide quality healthcare to citizens.
She emphasized that strengthening the healthcare system requires administrative reforms, balanced resource utilization, and a culture of accountability. With this perspective, the deployment of human resources in institutions is being reviewed, and corrective measures are being taken wherever necessary.
Recently, a significant restructuring of human resources was carried out under the Central Procurement Agency (CPA) within the Health and Family Welfare Department.
As part of this process, over 40 medical, paramedical, and administrative officials and staff were transferred. Experienced medical officers from various hospitals and health institutions have also been deployed to strengthen procurement, supply, and administrative arrangements.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the government’s goal is to ensure the availability of necessary human resources in every unit of the health department, strengthen institutional capacity, and optimize the use of available resources.
The recommendation for the transfer of doctors stationed in Tihar and Mandoli jails is also part of this comprehensive process of administrative reform and human resource management.
