Bhopal, March 27: Efforts to curb corruption in Madhya Pradesh are intensifying. The Lokayukt has initiated actions against those demanding bribes in exchange for government services.

In a recent operation, an assistant sub-inspector from the police department and a revenue inspector were caught accepting bribes. The Lokayukt team from Indore apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector Ravindra Kumar Guru while he was accepting a bribe of 7,000 rupees in Khasrawad, Khargone district.

According to information from the Indore police superintendent’s office, the complainant, Mangilal Upadhyay, a farmer from Chandavad village in Bhagwanpura tehsil, had reported threats to his life from Rajesh Bagdare, a resident of Khasrawad.

In return for resolving the complaint against Upadhyay at the Khasrawad police station, Assistant Sub-Inspector Guru demanded a bribe of 20,000 rupees. Upadhyay subsequently reported this to Rajesh Sahay, the police superintendent of the Indore Lokayukt.

Upon verification of the complaint, a trap team was formed on Friday.
