CPI (M) slams Centre over hike in fuel prices

New Delhi, March 31 : The Comm st Party of India (Marxist) on Thursday slammed the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre over continuous hike in prices of petrol and diesel and termed it as a daily “criminal assault”. Attacking the ruling BJP, CPI (M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury in a tweet said, “Resist this unbearable daily criminal assault.” Strengthen the April 2 countywide protests demanding scrapping of cess/surcharges on petro products and slashing of prices for people, he appealed to people. The party has given call for a nationwide protest against price rise on April 2. Yechury’s reaction came after the petrol and diesel prices were hiked for the ninth time in 10 days on Thursday. In Delhi, petrol will now cost Rs 101.81 as against Rs 101.01 per litre previously, while for diesel, one will now have to shell out Rs 93.07 as against Rs 92.27 per litre earlier. DS RJ
