New Delhi, May 2: The Saket Court has rejected the bail plea of Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, the director of Al-Falah University, who was arrested in a money laundering case. This marks the second time his bail request has been denied, with the first rejection occurring on April 4.
Siddiqui was presented before ASJ Sheetal Chaudhary after his police custody ended. The investigating agency stated that the investigation against him is ongoing and requested judicial custody to gather further evidence. Consequently, the court ordered him to be held in custody.
Siddiqui was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 24 from Tihar Jail. This is the second money laundering case filed against him.
The action against Siddiqui is part of an investigation into money laundering linked to the Al-Falah Charitable Trust, Al-Falah University, and associated entities. The ED is also investigating Siddiqui in connection with a blast that occurred near the Red Fort in Delhi on November 10.
According to the ED, a chargesheet against Siddiqui was filed on January 17. The investigation revealed that fraudulent documents were used to illegally acquire land.
The agency alleges that Siddiqui, in collaboration with others, prepared fake documents to illegally claim a plot of land located at Khasra number 792 in Madanpur Khadar village, South-East Delhi. This land spans approximately 1.146 acres and is valued at around ₹45 crores.
The documents reportedly listed the land’s value at ₹75 lakhs, while the actual transaction amount is suspected to be significantly higher. Investigative agencies are now working to trace the financial transactions and identify other individuals and properties involved in this case.
