Mumbai, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Chandrakant Handore made headlines recently for his sharp criticism of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Speaking in Mumbai, Handore accused Kumar of attempting to undermine democracy and used provocative language to express his concerns. He demanded Kumar’s arrest and called for legal action against him.
Handore highlighted the ongoing movement led by the Congress party, referencing Rahul Gandhi‘s consistent allegations of “vote theft” over the past two years. He noted that Gandhi has raised these issues through PowerPoint presentations, press conferences, and public meetings, questioning the electoral process and the role of the Election Commission. According to Handore, the validity of Gandhi’s claims is becoming increasingly evident.
The MP also referred to a Supreme Court ruling stipulating that decisions by a three-member commission should be made collectively, either by consensus or majority when necessary. Despite this, Handore claimed that two senior officials from the Election Commission had presented issues that were ignored, alleging arbitrary decision-making by one official.
Handore further questioned Gyanesh Kumar’s authority, asking, “Who is Gyanesh Kumar to affect the democratic system of the entire country?” He accused Kumar of attempting to dismantle democracy itself and emphasized the contributions of prominent leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, and Jawaharlal Nehru in establishing India’s democratic framework.
In a passionate plea, Handore insisted that Gyanesh Kumar should be arrested immediately and prosecuted. He urged all citizens to unite, setting aside their differences to protect democracy.
