New Delhi, October 4 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions are rising in New Delhi as the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections approach. The Congress party has responded to claims made by Shivpal Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party (SP), who stated that Congress should not expect more than 50 seats in a potential alliance. Rajendra Pal Gautam, in charge of Congress in Uttar Pradesh, firmly denied that the party ever claimed it would contest 150 seats, labeling such claims as misinformation.
Gautam emphasized the importance of collaboration between the two parties, stating, “Once the alliance is formed, both parties will win and form the government. We have never suggested that we would lose.” He pointed out that elections are won by parties, not individuals, asserting that the Congress party is the leading ideological force in the country.
Addressing the rumors about Congress’s supposed intention to contest 150 seats, Gautam reiterated, “The Congress party has never claimed to fight for 150 seats. Those spreading these claims are misinformed. I have always maintained that everyone should receive equal representation and mutual respect.” He expressed the party’s willingness to adopt a flexible approach regarding seat allocation.
Gautam added that the final number of seats would be determined by the party leadership after discussions between senior leaders from both sides. In response to Yadav’s comments, Gautam suggested that the SP should clearly communicate if they do not wish to pursue an alliance, insisting that their stance should be more straightforward.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the discussions around seat sharing will be crucial in shaping the electoral strategies of both parties in Uttar Pradesh.
