Congress Leader Hussain Dalwai Advocates for OBC Rights Amid Maratha Reservation Debate
Hussain Dalwai emphasizes the need to protect OBC rights while addressing Maratha reservation and communal issues in Mumbai.

Mumbai, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : Hussain Dalwai, a prominent Congress leader, recently responded to various claims made by activist Manoj Jarange Patil regarding the Maratha reservation issue. Speaking in Mumbai, Dalwai emphasized the necessity for a thorough investigation into the concerns raised by Jarange, stating that some of the questions posed were misguided.
He highlighted the plight of the impoverished within the Maratha community, advocating for their access to education, employment, and agricultural support. However, he raised a critical point about the implications of including them in reservation policies, questioning the impact on those who genuinely belong to the Other Backward Classes (OBC).
Dalwai also commented on a controversial financial matter, referring to a ₹500 crore issue and urging scrutiny of its legitimacy. He expressed his belief that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde should reconsider his political alliances, suggesting that he would gradually understand the true nature of the party he has joined.
In response to recent attacks on Christians in West Bengal, Dalwai condemned any attempts to restrict their right to worship. He criticized the atmosphere created by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming it has led to injustices and oppression against various communities.
Addressing remarks made by fellow Congress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde regarding the BJP, Dalwai defended Shinde’s integrity and commitment to the Congress party, expressing skepticism about any potential shift in his political allegiance.
On the issue of Neha Bora’s detention, Dalwai labeled the action as unjust, advocating for the High Court to reassess the situation. He further noted that while Rahul Gandhi speaks out against the atrocities faced by Muslims, lower-level leaders often remain silent. Dalwai urged the Congress party to focus on Muslim issues and engage in dialogue with Muslim leadership to address these concerns effectively.
