Congress Leader Demands Compensation for Gwalior Accident Victims

Jitu Patwari calls for ₹25 lakh compensation for families of Gwalior accident victims and highlights ongoing safety concerns in Madhya Pradesh.

Bhopal, October 22 (Daily Kiran) : Jitu Patwari, president of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee, visited injured pilgrims at AIIMS hospital in Bhopal following a tragic road accident in Gwalior. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of 16 lives in the incident and urged the government to provide ₹25 lakh in compensation to the families of the victims.

Patwari emphasized that the accident has left an indelible mark of grief on many families. He noted that severely injured individuals had to be airlifted for better medical treatment, raising serious concerns about the effectiveness of police and administrative measures in ensuring public safety.

He stated that had proper arrangements and vigilance been in place, many lives could have been saved. The Congress leader called for an impartial investigation into the incident and demanded accountability from responsible officials.

Highlighting a series of tragic events in the state, including child deaths in Chhindwara, an accident in Balaghat, and contaminated water deaths in Indore, Patwari stressed the growing anxiety regarding public safety. He insisted that the government must ensure justice, appropriate medical care, and adequate financial support for the affected families.

He reiterated that each family of the deceased should receive at least ₹25 lakh, and the government should cover all medical expenses for the injured. Patwari criticized the government for merely offering assurances without taking substantial action. He urged the administration to conduct thorough investigations, hold culprits accountable, and take concrete steps to prevent future incidents.

Patwari concluded by asserting that the government’s responsibility extends beyond declaring aid after accidents; it must also implement measures to safeguard citizens’ lives. Strengthening road safety, emergency medical services, and administrative accountability in Madhya Pradesh is crucial.
