Raipur, September 21 (Daily Kiran) : Deepak Baij, the president of the Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee, responded to recent statements by former Vice President Hamid Ansari, the Rath Yatra of Baba Bagheswar Dham, and Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Students’ Echo’ program during a press interaction in Raipur.
Ansari remarked that while Jawaharlal Nehru believed communism posed no threat to India, it is the communal Hindu nationalist ideology that is concerning. Baij agreed, stating, “The truth is that the BJP is currently dividing the nation. They have plunged the entire country into communalism, inciting conflicts among communities. No religion is safe. The BJP is politicizing Hinduism. It is Hinduism, not the BJP, that is in danger. Ansari’s comments reflect the current situation, which is indeed unsafe for the country. We need to liberate the nation from the BJP.”
Turning to healthcare, Baij criticized the state of hospitals in Chhattisgarh. He claimed, “The condition of hospitals here is far from satisfactory. The government has not provided funds to private hospitals, making it difficult for the poor to receive treatment. Fake medicines are being sold. Regardless of the claims made by ministers, the health system in the state has completely failed.”
In response to the BJP’s demand for an apology from Congress over a mimicry of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the ‘Students’ Echo’ program, Baij remarked, “Now it seems that only the Prime Minister’s mother matters in this country, while others are disregarded. If the Prime Minister engages in mimicry, it’s suddenly acceptable and patriotic. The BJP should stop this theatrics.”
Regarding Baba Bagheswar’s upcoming five-day Rath Yatra aimed at establishing a Hindu nation, Baij suggested, “Baba Bagheswar should first clarify with the BJP whether a Hindu nation is truly necessary. He should explain whether Hindus are in danger or if it is the BJP that is at risk.”
