Congress Issues Show-Cause Notice to Missing MLA Dasarathi Gamang Ahead of Rajya Sabha Elections

Bhubaneswar, March 15: The Congress party has issued a show-cause notice to Dasarathi Gamang, the MLA from Mohana, for allegedly violating party discipline. This notice was released by Sujit Kumar Padhy, the head of the Odisha Pradesh Congress’s disciplinary action committee. The party warned that if Gamang fails to respond or provide a satisfactory explanation within the stipulated time, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against him.

Dasarathi Gamang has been missing ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections. According to a notice from the Odisha Pradesh Congress’s disciplinary committee, all Congress MLAs were instructed to remain in Bhubaneswar from March 13 in preparation for the elections scheduled for March 17.

The Congress party stated that despite repeated attempts over the past week, they have been unable to contact Gamang. State Congress President Ajay Kumar and the leader of the Congress legislative party, Ramchandra Kadam, also reportedly tried to reach him multiple times by phone but were unsuccessful.

The notice further mentioned that party leaders attempted to locate the MLA at his residence in Bhubaneswar and his ancestral village but could not find him. The party noted that they have not received any information or complaints from his family or close associates indicating that he has been kidnapped. This led the party leadership to believe that he may have deliberately gone into hiding.

The Congress has instructed Gamang to appear in person at the party office by 6 PM on March 15 to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against him.

Meanwhile, Ramchandra Kadam, the leader of the Congress legislative party, stated that all 14 Congress MLAs currently staying in Bengaluru will return to Odisha to vote together in accordance with the party’s decision regarding the Rajya Sabha elections. He emphasized that all MLAs will proceed based on the decisions made by the Congress party during this election period.
