Congress Criticizes Government Over Silence on Middle East Attacks and Rising Fuel Prices

New Delhi, March 21: Congress leader Pawan Khera launched a sharp attack on the central government on Friday regarding its alleged silence over the deaths of people in the Middle East and the rising prices of petrol. He also claimed that the film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was created to promote National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

In an interview with a news agency, Khera criticized the government’s silence following the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the deaths of schoolgirls in Israeli attacks.

He stated, “When a head of state is killed by Israel and the United States, no one can remain silent. In this matter, Congress has not stayed silent. Indians have not stayed silent.”

Khera emphasized, “When 168 schoolgirls are killed by Israel and the United States, who can remain silent? No country, society, or individual with even a shred of principle can stay quiet in the face of such brutal and merciless events.”

The Congress leader also targeted the central government over rising fuel prices, alleging that the ruling BJP-led government deliberately kept fuel prices low until the assembly elections concluded.

Khera warned, “We (Congress) have been cautioning the central government, and after the assembly elections, fuel prices will skyrocket.”

He added that the central government has collected substantial revenue through taxes on petrol and diesel over the past decade, and this benefit should be passed on to consumers.

“You (the central government) have collected 26-27 lakh crore rupees through taxes on petrol and diesel in the last 12 years. It is now time to pass these benefits to consumers. The costs of the ongoing war in the Middle East should not be borne by consumers.”

Commenting on the film ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Khera mentioned that he has not seen the film and has no intention of doing so, but accused it of being a biopic primarily aimed at promoting National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.

He also questioned the government’s security preparations, citing alleged incidents involving foreign nationals and past terrorist attacks.

Khera claimed, “While Ajit Doval was busy watching this film with popcorn, Russia came to inform us about six individuals from Ukraine who entered India. They crossed into Myanmar via Mizoram, trained rebels, and returned to India without us even knowing.”

He further stated that such incidents raise serious questions about the country’s security management, recalling past attacks in Pahalgam, Pulwama, and Jama Masjid.
