New Delhi, August 13: Amid ongoing deadlock over the debate in Parliament regarding actions taken against students, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi launched a verbal attack on Congress and the opposition. He stated that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had offered to provide a detailed and structured response to all questions related to the student protests. However, Congress failed to submit any proposal for discussion within the stipulated time. Trivedi questioned the opposition’s intentions, alleging that Congress is evading discussion in Parliament.
In an interview with a news agency, Sudhanshu Trivedi emphasized that Home Minister Amit Shah had made it clear that he was prepared to address all issues related to the student movement in the House. Following this, he expected Congress to send a proposal for discussion in accordance with parliamentary rules and procedures. The Home Minister had given Congress a deadline until Wednesday at 3 PM to submit their proposal, but no proposal was received by that time. This indicates that the opposition is avoiding a discussion on this critical issue.
Trivedi remarked that Amit Shah had requested Congress to send a proposal, which they failed to do. He interpreted this as a sign of Congress’s reluctance to engage in discussion, suggesting that the opposition lacks the courage to face the Home Minister’s challenge. He noted that Congress had an opportunity to clarify its position in the House, which was a crucial chance to address questions regarding its political credibility, but the opposition squandered it.
He pointed out that the opportunity given to Congress to clear its name is slipping away, labeling it as the last chance to remove the ‘stain’ on its credibility. Trivedi accused the opposition of continuously disrupting parliamentary proceedings and retreating when the government offers to discuss issues.
He added that under Rahul Gandhi‘s leadership, the opposition has been obstructing parliamentary proceedings, and when Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Home Minister Amit Shah respond to issues in the House, the opposition leaders tend to avoid the discussion.
