Lucknow, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput has voiced concerns over the alleged harassment of India Alliance leaders by the BJP government in West Bengal. Speaking in Lucknow on September 4, he addressed a range of political topics, including the Saharanpur fake currency case, Mamata Banerjee’s security claims, and comments made by Belgium’s Prime Minister regarding India’s development.
Rajput criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s earlier assertions during the demonetization phase, where he claimed that fake currency would be eradicated. “If fake currency is still an issue, we must ask where it is coming from—whether from Gujarat, the Prime Minister’s residence, or terrorist sources,” he stated. He emphasized the need to identify these internal threats and called for an end to Modi’s empty promises.
On the remarks made by Belgium’s Prime Minister about India’s role as a significant partner in Europe, Rajput acknowledged India’s economic strength, attributing it to the contributions of software engineers, traders, farmers, and youth. He expressed that such recognition should be celebrated.
Regarding comments made by Tamil Nadu’s opposition leader Udhayanidhi Stalin about Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, Rajput asserted that accountability is essential in governance. “Vijay should respond to Stalin’s remarks, especially since he is dedicated to serving the public,” he said.
Rajput further highlighted the troubling situation in West Bengal, where he claims the BJP’s actions reflect a lack of faith in democracy. He described the current atmosphere as one of fear, with opposition members facing intimidation and vandalism at the offices of Congress and leftist parties. He concluded by stating that the people of West Bengal would resist this authoritarianism, asserting that democracy must prevail.
