Howrah, September 4 (Daily Kiran) : In Howrah, on September 4, renowned spiritual leader Pandit Dhirendra Krishna Shastri addressed West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, presenting three significant demands. During his first visit to the region for a Gita recitation, he urged the government to declare the Ganga Sagar Mela as a national festival. His second demand was to grant the status of “Raj Mata” to the cow, and thirdly, he called for an end to the small communal disturbances that occur during the celebrations of Kali Puja, advocating for a spirit of unity encapsulated in the phrase “Har Har Gange.”
Shastri emphasized the need for India to affirm its identity as a Hindu nation, stating that such recognition is essential in the realm of thought. He expressed hope that intellectuals like Adhikari would support the ideology of Hindutva, which he believes would transform India into a Hindu nation in thought as well as in practice.
Regarding former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, he commented, “We are saints, not politicians, and we do not deliver political messages. We invite her to join the discourse. The opportunity to hear the teachings was missed before, but now God has provided another chance.” He stressed that the teachings of Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, and Goddess Kali belong to everyone.
Shastri also spoke about the potential of India’s youth, describing them as the nation’s strength. He shared a parable about a pilot announcing that while the plane was flying faster than ever, its destination was unknown. He likened this to the current youth, who are moving rapidly but without clear direction. He urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to instill values in the younger generations, encouraging them to pursue education and contribute positively to society.
In his remarks about the current government, Shastri referred to it as a “Sanatani government” and emphasized that the people’s expectations are now on the Chief Minister’s shoulders. He urged Adhikari to respect and understand the sentiments of the state’s populace.
