CM Yogi Calls for Nationwide Har Ghar Tiranga Movement to Honor National Flag

Lucknow, August 1: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has urged residents to actively participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, aiming to hoist the national flag at 5 crore homes this year. He emphasized that this initiative is not merely a campaign but a national movement to instill patriotism, respect for the national flag, and a connection to the country’s glorious history among the populace.

During a high-level meeting, CM Yogi reviewed preparations for the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, Independence Day celebrations, and the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. He noted that Uttar Pradesh has set an example for the nation by achieving unprecedented public participation in past campaigns. All government and semi-government institutions, local bodies, educational institutions, and social organizations are encouraged to display the national flag on their premises.

He stated that coordinated efforts will ensure the campaign’s remarkable success. The meeting revealed that over 4.10 crore flags were hoisted in 2022, with numbers expected to rise to over 4.50 crore in 2023 and 2024, and 4.76 crore in 2025. The Chief Minister directed that arrangements for the production, availability, and distribution of national flags be made promptly. Self-help groups, khadi and village industries, MSME units, and local production centers should be involved in the campaign. The flags should be made easily accessible to the public through ration shops, village council buildings, and other designated centers.

The meeting also discussed various activities planned across the state, including flag rallies, music festivals, exhibitions, and themed decorations. Schools and colleges will host exhibitions on freedom fighters, sing ‘Vande Mataram‘, and conduct art competitions to engage the youth with the history of the freedom movement.

CM Yogi instructed that all events from August 9, the Kakori Train Action Day, to August 15, Independence Day, should be conducted with dignity and patriotism. Special programs will be held at memorials and sites related to the freedom struggle, ensuring cleanliness and decoration. Families of freedom fighters and martyrs will be honored, and police bands will participate to create a patriotic atmosphere.

He also called for a special cleanliness drive across the state before these events. The contributions of immortal freedom fighters should be widely communicated to the public. Cultural programs, flag rallies, and collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ will connect every citizen to the campaign. Special events will also be organized at Amrit Sarovars and village secretariats.

The preparations for the Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14 were also reviewed. CM Yogi stressed that the tragedy of the country’s partition should be presented not just as a historical chapter but as an inspiration for national unity and integrity for the new generation. Programs should be organized to educate youth about the pain of partition, the displacement of millions, and their struggles.

He directed that exhibitions on the topic of partition be held in every district, including the capital, Lucknow. Participation from designated ministers and local representatives should be ensured. Families affected by the partition, including Punjabi, Sindhi, and Bengali communities, should be invited to share their experiences. Refugee families from Bangladesh should also be included in the events, with candle marches organized in their honor.

Universities and colleges will conduct discussions and seminars to inform youth about the historical background of partition, its consequences, and the importance of national unity. To promote the campaign widely, support will be sought from NCC, NSS, volunteer organizations, trade unions, local representatives, and various media outlets to ensure successful participation in all Independence Day celebrations.
