Chinese Minister Emphasizes Accelerating Innovative Development of Future Industries

Beijing, March 24: At the annual China Development Forum 2026, Li Qiang, China’s Minister of Industry and Information Technology, announced plans to accelerate the innovative development of future industries. He emphasized the need to enhance overall planning and visionary frameworks, strengthen technology forecasting mechanisms, and systematically promote the establishment of pilot areas for future industries.

Li stated that this initiative would guide local regions to leverage their comparative advantages in a specific and tailored manner for the development of future industries.

He highlighted that China has actively nurtured and developed future industries, achieving significant milestones in this direction. According to him, the nation’s primary strategy for future industries is continuously maturing, with a steady supply of cutting-edge technologies, increased vitality among enterprises, and ongoing optimization of the entire ecosystem.

Li also stressed that the development of future industries is not a “single effort” by any one country but rather a “collective effort” of global innovation collaboration. China is working alongside countries worldwide to share the benefits of technological innovation for the development of future industries and the welfare of all humanity. Additionally, multinational corporations are actively integrating into the future industrial landscape.

Looking ahead, Li Qiang stated that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will further empower technological supply for future industries. It will systematically plan for fundamental and leading technological breakthroughs and promote advancements in areas such as quantum technology, bio-manufacturing, hydrogen energy, nuclear fusion energy, brain-computer interfaces, integrated intelligence, and 6G.

He also mentioned that the ministry would actively integrate into the global innovation network.
