China and Zambia Sign Development Cooperation Agreement

Beijing, April 26: China and Zambia officially signed the “China-Zambia Government Development Cooperation Agreement” on April 24 in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka.

During the signing ceremony, Han Jing, the Chinese ambassador to Zambia, emphasized the deep-rooted traditional friendship between the two nations. He stated that this agreement is a significant testament to the friendly relations between China and Zambia, as well as China’s genuine support for the Zambian people.

Han Jing recalled that in the 1960s, despite its own economic challenges, China played a crucial role in assisting Zambia by supporting the construction of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. This initiative helped Zambia overcome economic blockades and gain access to the sea.

In the new era, the Chinese government continues to provide various forms of assistance to Zambia, including food and medical services. Han Jing also noted that China actively supports Zambian enterprises to enhance their independent development capabilities. This includes promoting investment in Zambia and fostering the country’s industrialization, modernization, and economic diversification.

China remains committed to strengthening cooperation with Zambia across various sectors and will work together to advance the modernization process.
