Bhopal, April 29: Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate a 60 megawatt captive solar power plant in Jhalod, Khargone district, during his visit on April 29.
This state-of-the-art facility has been established by the Indore Municipal Corporation under the Government of India’s CPSU Phase-II scheme, with an investment of approximately ₹271 crores. The project aims to promote clean and green energy. It represents a significant step towards making Indore a carbon-neutral city and will play a crucial role in environmental conservation and reducing carbon emissions.
Located in the villages of Samraj and Ashukhedi, the total cost of the project is ₹271.16 crores, which includes a 10-year operation and maintenance budget. The Indore Municipal Corporation has received around ₹42 crores in viability gap funding and ₹244 crores through public green bonds for this initiative.
The project spans 210.84 acres and is based on advanced Made in India DCR mono PERC technology. The electricity generated will be used to operate the Jhalod pumping station and e-vehicle charging stations. The estimated annual production from the plant is around 9.73 crore units.
The commissioning of this plant was successfully completed on March 3, and in March alone, it produced 66 lakh units, resulting in a savings of approximately ₹3.6 crores for the Indore Municipal Corporation. The monthly savings from the project are projected to be between ₹3 to ₹4 crores. This initiative will not only enhance self-sufficiency in clean energy but also contribute significantly to environmental protection and carbon emission reduction.
