Jodhpur, August 15: Chief Justice of India (CJI) D.Y. Chandrachud will arrive in Jodhpur on Saturday night. During his one-day visit on Sunday, he will participate in various events at the Jodhpur National Law University (JNLU), Rajasthan High Court, and the District Court. Additionally, he will attend a joint honor ceremony organized by two major bar associations in the city.
According to the program, there is significant enthusiasm among the Rajasthan High Court, district judiciary, lawyers, and legal education professionals regarding the CJI’s visit.
Justice Chandrachud will kick off his schedule by attending the 25th anniversary celebration of JNLU at 11:30 AM on Sunday. Following this, he will participate in a program on ‘Legal Technology and Ethics Roadmap’ at 12:15 PM and will be the chief guest at the Vice Chancellors’ Conclave 2.0.
These events will discuss the growing role of technology, ethics, and innovation in legal education and the justice system.
During his visit, the CJI will also lay the foundation stone for a new guest house at the Rajasthan High Court. This facility will enhance accommodation and basic amenities for judges, judicial officers, and other distinguished guests visiting the High Court.
Another significant event will take place at the Jodhpur District Court premises, where Justice Chandrachud will inaugurate the newly constructed seven-story G-7 building. This building will house courtrooms and other judicial facilities for approximately 60 courts, addressing the long-standing need for additional court buildings in the district judiciary.
A major highlight of the visit will be the joint honor ceremony organized by the Rajasthan High Court Advocates Association and the Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association in Jodhpur. Both bar associations will welcome the CJI on the same platform, providing an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and professional relationships between lawyers and the judiciary.
Several judges from the Supreme Court and Rajasthan High Court are expected to attend these events, including Justices Sandeep Mehta, Vijay Bishnoi, Acting Chief Justice S.P. Sharma, and Justice Pushpendra Singh Bhati, among others.
After completing all his engagements, Justice Chandrachud will depart for Delhi around 5:30 PM on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Rajasthan High Court administration has organized a dinner at a five-star hotel in Jodhpur to commemorate Independence Day. Judges from the High Court, advocates representing the state government, and officials from bar associations have been invited.
The Rajasthan High Court administration hosts dinners on Republic Day and Independence Day each year, with this year’s event taking place at a five-star hotel in the city.
