Dharmari, July 15: A court in Dharmari district has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a serious POCSO case involving crimes against women and children. This verdict was reached based on the effective and scientific investigation conducted by the police.
According to reports, the Additional Sessions Judge (FTC) in Dharmari found Kishan Yadav, a resident of Pavadwar village in the Sihawa police jurisdiction, guilty under Section 332 and Section 64(2) of the Indian Penal Code, as well as Section 6 of the POCSO Act, in a decision delivered on July 13, 2026.
The court imposed a seven-year rigorous imprisonment sentence along with a fine of ₹1,000 under Section 332 of the Indian Penal Code. If the fine is not paid, an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment will be enforced. Under Section 6 of the POCSO Act, the accused received a 20-year rigorous imprisonment sentence, a fine of ₹3,000, and an additional year of rigorous imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
The investigation was led by Assistant Sub-Inspector Dulal Nath, who relied on scientific evidence and effective research. The strong collection of evidence by the police and its effective presentation in court led to the conviction of the accused, resulting in a harsh sentence.
The accused was charged with luring a minor and committing heinous acts against her. Following this, a case was registered with the police, leading to the investigation and subsequent sentencing of the accused to 20 years in prison.
The Dharmari police stated that under their “zero tolerance” policy towards crimes against women and children, swift, fair, and effective investigations are being conducted in such cases to ensure that offenders receive stringent punishment as per the law.
