Chaos Erupts at Chitkara University Over Ghost Rumors
Tensions rise at Chitkara University in Patiala as ghost rumors spark student protests and police intervention.

Patiala, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : A wave of unrest swept through Chitkara University in Patiala late Friday night, triggered by rumors of a ghost haunting the campus. The situation escalated after the claims went viral on social media, leading hundreds of students to take to the streets and engage in significant property damage within the university.
Students alleged that the spirit of a girl who had previously committed suicide was now disturbing those residing in the hostel. In response, security guards and senior university officials attempted to reassure the students, insisting that no such suicide had occurred on campus.
According to university administration, a group of mischievous students was reportedly knocking on doors and fleeing, contributing to the panic. However, this explanation did little to quell the unrest, as students continued to chant slogans against the university management.
As tensions mounted, a heavy police presence was deployed from the Banur, Sadar Rajpura, and City Rajpura police stations. Attempts by the police to calm the students only exacerbated the situation, resulting in clashes and vandalism of a police vehicle.
Reports emerged of an altercation involving Ajay Kumar, the officer in charge of KSM Chowki, with students claiming he was under the influence of alcohol. Following this incident, a medical examination was conducted at the university’s lab.
Ultimately, the police and university officials managed to restore order by assuring students that the incidents of door knocking would be thoroughly investigated through CCTV footage. Authorities promised strict legal and administrative action against any individuals found responsible for instigating the unrest. Following this assurance, students dispersed and returned to their hostels, with the situation reported to be under control.
DSP Sukdev Singh addressed the rumors regarding two missing female students, clarifying that no names or identities had been confirmed. He emphasized that the claims appeared to be unfounded and that the police were taking the matter seriously. The police have begun collecting information from students to validate the situation, pledging to act accordingly if any student is indeed found missing.
DSP Singh reassured parents that the environment at Chitkara University was calm and that all students were safe, urging them not to panic as police maintained a strong presence on campus to ensure security.
