Kolkata, Mar 7 : The CBI has issued a fresh summons to Trinamool Congress Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal asking him to appear before its investigating officials in relation with the cattle smuggling case on March 14, sources in the federal agency said on Monday. The sources said the latest summons is the fourth that has been served on the influential leader. He has been asked to appear at 11 am on March 14 at the Central Bureau of Investigation’s office at Nizam Palace in South Kolkata. They said the TMC leader had skipped the previous three summons citing various reasons through his counsels. They said the central probe agency is investigating the cattle smuggling case following the directive of theCalcutta high court. ” The skipping of CBI summons would result in Mondal being hauled up for contempt of court,” another source said. They said the CBI was also exploring legal action next time if the TMC leader went on skipping the summons. They said the summons to Mondal was issued on the basis of interrogation of the witnesses and the tallying of statements recorded earlier from different people, either arrested or grilled in the cattle smuggling case.
