Ranchi, August 16: Babulal Marandi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly and a prominent BJP leader, has urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to abandon his stubbornness and promptly accept the students’ demand for a CBI investigation into irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC examinations.
Students have been protesting for several days, and their demands are entirely justified. The government should stop its obstinate attitude. Marandi made these remarks during a media interaction after paying tribute to Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his death anniversary at his statue located in the Jharkhand Assembly.
During the media briefing, he highlighted the seriousness of allegations regarding the sale of jobs in the JSSC and JPSC. Reports on social media and news outlets have surfaced, claiming that certain individuals obtained jobs through bribery. This is an injustice to the talented youth of Jharkhand. Therefore, students are rightfully demanding a CBI investigation. They are not making unreasonable demands; they simply seek a fair inquiry into the entire matter.
Marandi stated that those found guilty in the investigation would face imprisonment. He questioned why the government would object to this. The government should not force students into continuous protests. The BJP expresses complete solidarity with the aggrieved students and stands morally with them. He urged the government to take prompt action regarding the students’ demands.
Additionally, BJP MLA Naveen Jaiswal also supported the student protests, noting that the youth of Jharkhand have been demonstrating in a disciplined and peaceful manner for the past 22 days. He contrasted this with a recent student protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, which reportedly witnessed indiscipline and inappropriate behavior. In contrast, Jharkhand’s students have shown that they can present their demands peacefully and democratically. The discipline maintained by the protesting students is commendable. He called for serious consideration of the students’ demands and urged the government to engage in dialogue to find a resolution.
