Burhanpur Hosts Health Consultation for Pregnant Women Under PM Safe Motherhood Campaign

Burhanpur, March 9: The District Hospital in Burhanpur organized a health check-up and consultation program for pregnant women on Monday as part of the Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign.

Under the guidance of the Chief Medical and Health Officer and the Civil Surgeon, a total of 40 pregnant women received prenatal physical and mental health assessments during the ANC OPD session.

During the examinations, four pregnant women were identified as being in a high-risk category. Their families and healthcare providers were advised to take special precautions and maintain regular monitoring. The program also provided information on the importance of physical and mental health during pregnancy, timely check-ups, nutrition, and care for both mothers and newborns during and after delivery. A toll-free number was shared for assistance.

This initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to promote safe pregnancies and reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.

District Officer Seema stated that check-up camps are held on the 9th of every month under the PM Safe Motherhood Campaign. Pregnant women undergo urine and blood tests, along with other free examinations. Emphasis is also placed on mental health assessments.

Beneficiary Anita Murli Dhar expressed her gratitude, stating that the program provides essential health consultations. Doctors offer guidance on what to do and what to avoid during pregnancy. Additionally, a toll-free number is provided for women to ask questions or address any concerns they may have regarding their health or test results.

The PM Safe Motherhood Campaign is a key initiative by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Government of India. Its goal is to ensure comprehensive and quality prenatal care services for all pregnant women, especially during their second and third trimesters, free of charge on the 9th of every month. The primary objective is to promptly identify and manage high-risk pregnancies to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality rates. The program follows a structured approach to engage the private sector, encouraging private practitioners to voluntarily participate, helping to develop awareness strategies, and facilitating participation in government health facilities.
