Bulbul weakens into deep depression, danger signal lowered to 3 at maritime ports of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised the maritime ports to lower the danger signal to number 3.

The Met department said in its special bulletin that that the cyclone is gradually weakening as it moves in a north easterly direction.

The cyclone crossed Khulna and adjoining south-western part of Bangladesh around 5 in the morning today after making a landfall in West Bengal near Sunderbans area.The coastal districts of Bangladesh including Khulna, Satkhira, Chittagong, Noakhali, Barguna, Patuakhali and Barisal are likely to experience wind of 50-60kph in gusts with heavy to very heavy rainfall during the passage of the deep depression.

All fishing boats and trawlers over north bay have been advised to remain in shelter till Sunday evening.

According to some reports two people have been killed and 15 injured in cyclone related incidents in various parts of the country.

Some huts and makeshift houses have also been reportedly damaged though it has not been officially confirmed.
