Hyderabad, April 24: Telangana police have arrested Manne Krishank, the social media coordinator for the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), following a complaint from TPCC leader Gundamalla Rajendra Kumar. The arrest stems from allegations that Krishank assaulted Kumar over a social media post.
Assistant Commissioner of Police P. Naresh Reddy reported that the complainant accused Krishank and others of damaging his property, threatening his life, and forcibly taking his phone. Kumar sustained minor injuries during the incident.
Based on Kumar’s complaint, Kukatpally police have filed charges against Krishank and others for trespassing, assault, and extortion. Kukatpally Inspector K.V. Subba Rao confirmed that Krishank and seven of his supporters were arrested on Thursday. All suspects will be presented before a magistrate for judicial custody.
While being taken to the magistrate, Krishank spoke to the media, stating, “For the past week, we have been questioning illegalities in distributing mobile phones to Anganwadi teachers. As part of the BRS fact-finding committee on illegal mining in Kotwalaguda, I visited the site with senior party leaders. These actions have led to false charges against me, and we will legally contest this.”
Previously, on March 26, Krishank was severely injured during a protest against the Congress government, where he was involved in burning an effigy. BRS Executive President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) visited Krishank at his residence to check on his health and extended wishes for a speedy recovery. KTR also congratulated Krishank on the success of the ‘One Lakh Signatures Collection’ campaign, which aimed to merge the cantonment with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
