Dr. Jaishankar remarked that today’s discussions focus on the nature of collaboration and its future trajectory, informed by the experiences of the past two decades. The presence of partner nations has strengthened collective efforts and deepened mutual engagement. By leveraging our collective strengths, we can make BRICS more robust, effective, and adaptable to changing circumstances.
He stated, “Over time, both the scope and significance of BRICS have expanded. It reflects the desire of emerging economies and developing countries for a more balanced and inclusive international order. In response to changing global conditions, BRICS has broadened its agenda and membership, while always focusing on human development and practical cooperation.”
Dr. Jaishankar outlined four priorities: resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability, which provide a practical framework for partnership and collaboration.
“Resilience: We are working on strengthening supply chains, diversifying markets, enhancing early warning systems, and developing climate-resilient infrastructure. Initiatives like digital integration for social welfare reflect our strong focus on people’s well-being.
Innovation: Initiatives such as the BRICS Incubator Network, Science and Research Repository, and Youth Startup Platform are aimed at promoting innovation and creating new opportunities.
Cooperation: Initiatives like the BRICS MSME Connect Portal, Trade Receivables Discounting System, and partnerships in agriculture and health will yield tangible results at the grassroots level.
