Bora attacks BJP, says Constitution threatened

New Delhi, April 19 : Ripun Bora, who quit the Congress to join the Trinamool Congress, on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government at the Centre, saying the Constitution was under threat from the ruling dispensation. “Our Constitution and democracy are under threat from the BJP,” Bora told a press conference here as he narrated why he quit the Congress after serving it for more than four decades. “Since 2014, the BJP is growing across the country due to Congress failure. Instead of fighting the BJP, leaders of Congress party are fighting within themselves. This is also the situation in Assam due to which people have lost faith in the party.” Bora said that only West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee can save the country from BJP’s “divisive politics”. “At this present situation, TMC is the only party which can give a fight to BJP and protect our Constitution,” he said. “In Assam, we will fight to protect the interests of the people irrespective of caste, creed and religion.” DS MR
