
Dhanbad, July 15: A bomb threat targeting the main post office and the regional passport office in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, has put local authorities and security agencies on high alert. The threat was communicated via an anonymous email, prompting immediate evacuation of the premises.
Police swiftly responded by clearing the area and launching a thorough search operation with the help of bomb disposal squads and dog units. According to police reports, the email claimed that an explosion would occur at 1:15 PM in both the post office and passport office.
The email also contained offensive religious remarks and suggested that individuals from a specific community should be removed from the premises. Security agencies are currently investigating the language of the email, its source, and the seriousness of the claims made.
Upon receiving the threat, teams from the Dhanbad police station and other security agencies arrived on-site. As a precaution, employees, applicants, and visitors in the post office and passport office were safely evacuated.
Additionally, the nearby BSNL office and the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) office were also cleared to prevent any potential harm in case of an emergency. Senior police officials are continuously monitoring the situation. The bomb disposal team and dog squad have begun a meticulous inspection of the entire area, including searches for suspicious objects.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official confirmation of any explosive materials being found. Security in the surrounding area has been heightened, with police restricting public access and establishing necessary safety perimeters. The cyber cell has also been engaged in the investigation to trace the IP address or server from which the threatening email was sent, and to determine if any individual, group, or organization is involved.
Police officials stated that the matter is being taken very seriously, and all aspects are under investigation. Authorities have urged the public to ignore rumors and report any suspicious activities to the police immediately. Security agencies are closely monitoring the situation, and the investigation is ongoing.
