Bodies of Two Missing Kukis Found in Manipur After Four Days
Two Kukis missing since October 28 were found dead in Manipur. Authorities continue to search for those responsible for their disappearance.

Imphal, November 1 (Daily Kiran) : Authorities in Manipur have recovered the bodies of two Kukis who went missing on October 28. The discovery was made on Sunday following extensive search operations conducted by the Manipur Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Assam Rifles.
A police official reported that the two individuals disappeared from Tafou Kuki village in Kangpokpi district. In response, a joint team from the Manipur Police, CRPF, Cobra (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action), Rapid Action Force (RAF), and Assam Rifles launched several search missions.
On Sunday, a comprehensive search was carried out along the Imphal-Dimapur National Highway (NH-2), east of SP Road. During this operation, the teams located the two bodies. Following their recovery, police are completing necessary legal formalities.
Meanwhile, authorities have indicated that efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the incident will continue. The Tribal Unity Committee (COTU) had called for a 48-hour shutdown in Kangpokpi district to protest the alleged kidnapping of the two youths, disrupting traffic on NH-2. The shutdown began on Thursday evening, affecting local businesses and markets.
COTU has accused “Naga militants” of being behind the abduction. Manipur’s Deputy Chief Minister, Nemcha Kipgen, previously urged relevant officials to make every effort to locate and rescue the missing youths. In a statement, Kipgen condemned the alleged kidnapping near Tafou Kuki village.
The victims have been identified as 21-year-old Tinginlun Chongloi and 20-year-old Paoginlal Hangshing, who were reportedly abducted by unidentified assailants.
